WORCESTER – Dr. Stuart H. Bentkover M.D., age 69, passed away on Monday, February 26, after a long, courageous battle with multiple myeloma. “Dr. B.,” as those close to him knew him, was a talented and highly-respected facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Nancy (Levine) Bentkover; a son, Adam Bentkover and his wife, Kimberly of Delray Beach; two daughters, Shayna, wife of David Katz of San Francisco and Tori Bentkover of Brookline; two brothers, Burton Bentkover of Chicago and Warren Bentkover and his wife, Fern of Surprise, AZ; and two grandchildren, Daniel Bentkover and Miller Katz.Dr. Bentkover was born in Chicago, IL. Son of Sam and Lillian (Kominsky) Bentkover, he was proud to call Worcester home for the past 34 years. Dr. Bentkover graduated from Princeton University in 1970 with a degree in Biochemical Sciences. He received his medical education at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York, and completed his residencies in General Surgery at Harvard Medical School and in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Bentkover began practicing medicine with the Fallon Clinic in 1979. In 2002, Dr. Bentkover fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning his own practice and opened Bentkover Facial Plastic Surgery and Laser Center in Worcester, MA. Dr. Bentkover dedicated his career to beautifying his patients, inside and out. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Bentkover participated in the Face to Face program of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Through this program he donated his time to consult with and operate on victims of domestic violence. Dr. Bentkover is one of the most experienced and awarded facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons in New England. Locally, he was recognized as Worcester Magazine’s Best of Worcester in Facial Plastic Surgery from 2013-2016. He was adored by his patients and respected by his professional community, having frequently been asked to lecture to promising up and coming physicians and public fora, including the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the World Congress on Rhinoplasty, the Rhinoplasty Society, the Seventh International Symposium of Facial Plastic Surgery, and the American College of MOHS Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, and the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery Seminar. Dr. Bentkover was an enthusiastic indoor cyclist. He was passionate about model railroading and was an accomplished trumpet player, having played since the age of seven. His most cherished hobby was photography, documenting the lives of those he loved - his beloved wife and children. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 PM ON THURSDAY, MARCH 1st IN THE MILES FUNERAL HOME, 1158 MAIN STREET, HOLDEN UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN.
