Christos Stolakis

HOLDEN – Christos Stolakis, Sr., 62, of Cranbrook Drive, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at the UMass Memorial Health Care-University Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Linda M. (Keller) Stolakis; two sons, Christos Stolakis, Jr. and his wife Zarrina of Worcester, and Sotirios “Sam” Stolakis of Holden; a daughter, Barbara S. Mattson and her husband David of Holden; a brother, Spyridon Stolakis of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kayla, Lexia, Ryan and Mia Stolakis, and Katherine Mattson; and many cousins. Christos is predeceased by a brother, George Stolakis and two sisters, Katherine and Chrysanthe Stolakis. He was born in Worcester the son of Sotirios and Varvara (Ntoutsis) Stolakis and lived 22 years in Holden.

Christos graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade High School and worked at Heald Machine Company for 25 years and Ken Weld Company, both in Worcester. He later owned and operated Penny’s Pizza in Westborough. He enjoyed volunteering at the St. Francis Home in Worcester and was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester. Christos was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1967 to 1970. He was an M-14 rifle marksman and the recipient of the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with bronze star and Combat Action Ribbon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 30th, in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Activities Fund, 101 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
