Steven James Roach

BARRE – Steven James Roach, 18, of North Brookfield Road, died on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He is survived by his parents, James Edmond and Lisa Marie (Colbert) Roach; a sister, Sarah L. Roach; a brother, John C. Roach all of Barre; his maternal grandparents, Nancy Colbert of Barre and Dennis and Mary Colbert of Worcester and his great-grandmother, Jean Danielson of Holden; his paternal grandparents, John and Ann Persson of Worcester; five aunts, Laura, Lisa, Cheryl, Amie, and Nicole; four uncles, Danny, Jeremy, Tim, and Carl; and many extended relatives and good friends.

Steven was born in Worcester and was a senior at Quabbin Regional High School. He was a member of the Quabbin Regional High School football team from 2005-2009. He was an active member of the Heritage Bible Chapel in Princeton, and a lifelong believer in The Lord Jesus Christ. In 2006 and in 2008, he participated in Katrina Relief, a mission to rebuild homes in the Gulf Port, Mississippi.

Steven was a great kid, a good friend to so many, and truly a selfless person, throughout his entire life. He was the best son, best big brother, and best friend anyone could ever have. God knows we will all miss him, but if Steve were here today, he would tell us that it doesn't have to be forever. We will see him again someday if we only believe as he believed. – John 3:16

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Steven will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3rd, in the Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Road, Princeton. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Roach Family Benefit Fund, c/o Athol Savings Bank, 560 Summer Street, Barre, MA 01005.
