HOLDEN, MA / VENICE, FL – Steven P. Hagglund, 65, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 14, 2011 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His daughter, Kim passed away from cancer in 2009. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Donna J. (Nordquist) Hagglund; a daughter, Kerry L. Berry and her husband Jason of Rutland; two brothers, Paul R. Hagglund of Conyers, Georgia and Charles A. Hagglund of Leicester; a sister, Diane H. Miller of Holden; five grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter, children of Kerry & Jason and Steven, Katie and Lauren, children of Kim; several nieces and nephews.
Steven was born in Worcester, the son of Birger and Helen (Anderson) Hagglund and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the late 60’s. He was a supervisor for several years at Inner-Tite Corp in Holden. Previously he was a part owner of Anderson Tool & Stamping Company in Worcester with his brothers. When Steven wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and traveling down to Venice, Florida.
The Hagglund family would like to thank the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit staff at UMass Memorial healthcare-University Campus especially the nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and Dr. Cerny and Dr. Brettler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Steven will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steven’s memory to the Kim Hagglund Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Sovereign Bank, 240 West Boylston Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
