HOLDEN – Stephen Hutnak, 84, of 85 North Street, Jefferson, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 in the Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Norma R. (Applegate) Hutnak; a son, Stephen A. Hutnak of Whitefish, Montana; a daughter, Betty A. Sandstrom of Princeton; two brothers, Joseph Hutnak of Douglas and Andrew Hutnak of East Douglas; and a grandson, Kurt Sandstrom of Princeton. He was born in Burrillville, Rhode Island, son of George and Anna (Mercak) Hutnak, and has lived in Jefferson for 54 years.
Mr. Hutnak was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Company B 324th Engineering Co. in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He worked for Allied Metal Company in Worcester for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 24th, in the Chapel at Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. Burial with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon.
