GARDNER/CLINTON – Stephen Roy Hendrickx, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Henry Haywood Hospital after an illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Twine) Hendrickx and had lived in Clinton for 26 years before moving to Gardner three years ago.
He leaves his loving wife of 14 years, Mary Anne (Laramie) Hendrickx; his son, Andrew Hendrickx and his wife, Michelle; his granddaughters, Olivia, and Ryleigh Hendrickx; his brothers, Barry, and Jeffrey Hendrickx; his sisters, Pamela McKeever, Priscilla Dand, and Patricia Rodes; his brother-in-law, Christopher Laramie and his wife, Jean; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Hendrickx and his brother, Brian.
After graduating from high school, Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1965 and was honorable discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1969. He was a subcontractor for many years at PRI in Billerica before retiring. Previously, he worked for Alden Electronics in Westborough. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Gardner and enjoyed trips to the ocean and all types of animals. He loved to travel to area harbors and bay to watch tugboats and seafaring vessels head out to sea.
A graveside service for Stephen will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 14th, 2023, with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
