FRAMINGHAM - Stephen S. Fader, age 71, passed away on January 28, 2022. He was born July 12, 1950 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Irving and Ann Fader.
He was the beloved husband of Carol Oliver Fader of Ashland, MA. They were married on November 24, 2000. In 1998, following kidney failure from Polycystic Kidney Disease, Carol provided the ultimate gift when she donated a kidney to Stephen.
Stephen graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, NY in 1968 and attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA where he graduated with both Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering. It was at Northeastern where he met his first wife Elaine. They wed in 1972 and welcomed their daughter in August 1979. Stephen was a beloved father to Stephanie Fader of Waltham, MA. The two have always had a special bond.
He was a Licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, New York, and Florida. Upon graduating from Northeastern, he worked as a civil engineer at CE Maguire. In 1982, he began work for the Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works. He was the Town Engineer in Wellesley from 1989 until 2011 when he retired.
He loved to travel and he and Carol were fortunate to have visited many amazing places together. They were always looking forward to their next adventure. He also had a passion for music and loved to sing — especially show tunes. In his retirement, he joined The Treblemakers, a community chorus in Hopkinton, MA. The group brought him tremendous joy and many new friends. He was a lifelong New York sports fan, especially his beloved Mets.
He is survived by his wife Carol Fader, his daughter Stephanie Fader and her fiancé Colin Stack, and his brother Arthur Fader along with nieces, other family and friends.
A Graveside Funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove Street, Framingham. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Donations can be made to the PKD Foundation through
