Holden - Stanley R. Zytkiewicz, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was born in Clinton, the son of Stanley and Mary (Shusta) Zytkiewicz.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret (Enright) Zytkiewicz; their children, Darren Zytkiewicz of Holden and Kara Howard and her husband, David of Naples, FL; and two grandchildren, Colton and Madison Howard of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by his brother, James Zytkiewicz.
Stanley graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1955 where he was a star athlete and was affectionately know as "Shuster" to his classmates. He continued his studies, earning a Bachelor's degree from Fitchburg State University and a Masters Degree from Worcester State University.
Stanley devoted his life to education and began his career as an Elementary School teacher on Martha's Vineyard. He went on to teach in Rutland for one year before serving as Assistant Principal at Dawson School in Holden for several years. From there, Stanley went on to serve as Principal at Thomas Prince Elementary School in Princeton for several years before deciding to return to his role as a teacher where he remained until his retirement. During his retirement, Stanley worked as a substitute teacher at Wachusett High School.
Stanley had many interests in his life. He and a partner owned 2 package stores in Auburn. He had a passion for race horses and owned two who raced at Yonkers and Rockingham parks. Stanley was also an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golfing with the Teacher's League. Above all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22 at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Parker Rd., Lancaster.
