RUTLAND – Stanley B. Fife, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 He was born and raised in Worcester, one of seven children of the late Gordon K., Sr. and Florence “Flossie” (Burgess) Fife and moved to Rutland more than 30 years ago.
His wife of 24 years, June M. (Tucker) Fife, passed away in 2010. He leaves a son, William B. Fife and his wife, Denise of Shrewsbury; four daughters, Brenda L. Renwick and her husband, John of Toano,VA, Audrey Fife of Springfield, Lisa Frisch and her husband, Bob of Rutland and Amy E. Jennette and her husband, David of Newport News, VA; a step-son, Richard F. Eckhardt, Jr. of Rutland; a step-daughter, Francine M. Enberg of Holden; 9grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Raymond Sr., Gordon Jr., Lloyd and George Fife and his two sisters, Shirley Erickson and Madeline Fife.
Stanley began working in construction as a teenager. He then worked and ran a farm in Connecticut. Stanley returned to continue with his education,and earned his license as an electrician, which he spent most of his life doing. He also worked at the former Jamesbury Corporation, now Metso Automation in Worcester for 10 years and then as a bus driver for the Wachusett Regional School District for 18 years before retiring in 2012.
Stanley’s children would like to extend their gratitude to VNA Care Hospice program team, especially his nurse Moira, his volunteer companion, Rick and his social worker, Liz. Together, they provided invaluable service to Stan and his primary caregivers in his final months.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Stanley’s family on Saturday, July 30, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, Rutland. Donations may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
