Spiro returned to Worcester and purchased and furnished a seven-room home on Sever Street, and then brought his wife and son back from Greece to their new home.

He was a mechanical engineer and worked for over 30 years at Morgan Construction Co. in Worcester retiring in 1983. In the early 1950’s into the mid 1960’s, he introduced a radio series titled, “Worcester Hellenic Hour,” a weekly program offering Greek music to the listeners of WORC radio station.

Spiro was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester and its men’s AHEPA. He was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Montacute Lodge of Masons in Worcester, Scottish Rite Bodies of Worcester, Worcester Consistory, and Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Demetra “Toula” (Matheoulis) Garoulis; his son, Vasilios “Billy” S. Garoulis and his wife Jeana of Worcester; his two beloved grandchildren, Christina M. and Michael S. Spiros’ family would like to thank Joshua Cicio for all the help and loving care he gave to “Papou” - it will be forever remembered.
