HOLDEN – Emile S. Potvin, 89, of 333 Reservoir Street, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Marcelle C. (Duquette) Potvin; two sons, Thomas Potvin and his wife Judy of Webster and Richard Potvin and his wife Sharleen of Leicester; four daughters, Sister Elaine Potvin, SSA of Worcester, Louise Pelevan and her husband Ismail of Holden, Jeanne Corrao and her husband James of Holden and Denise Lagace and her husband Paul of Worcester; a brother, Alfred Potvin of Auburn; 11 grandchildren, Kara, Eric, Marcy, Lisa, John, Elizabeth, Matthew, Nicole, Lauren, Nicholas and Joseph; many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by six brothers, Henry, Roland, Romeo, Edgar, Lionel and Edmund Potvin, and two sisters, Mary Raymond and Yvonne Potvin. He was born in Websterville, Vermont, the son of Thomas and Elida (Nadeau) Potvin, and lived many years in Worcester, retiring to Charlton before moving to Holden in 1998.

Mr. Potvin was the warehouse foreman for Worcester Chemical Distributors where he worked for over 30 years retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson and the Harmony Club of Worcester. He was a World War II U.S. Army surgical technician, served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and participated in the several major campaigns including the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach.

The funeral for Mr. Potvin will be held on Saturday, December 23, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Entombment will take place in Notre Dame Mausoleum, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 22, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Office of Development, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445.
