HOLDEN – William S. Langevin, 98, of Old Broad St., Jefferson, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester, after an illness
His wife of 49 years, F. Gertrude (LeBlanc) Langevin, died in 1983. He leaves two daughters, Marie A. Turgeon and her husband Joseph of Worcester and Theresa A. Drake and her husband Leonard of Charlton; seven grandchildren, Debra M. Joyce, Bryan T. Joyce and his wife Linda, James J. Turgeon and his wife Cheryl all of Worcester, William S. Turgeon and his wife Penny of Holden, Jeffrey T. Turgeon and his wife Kimberly of Shrewsbury, Christopher Drake of Charlton and Mark Drake of Toronto, Canada; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; a brother, Adelard Longevin of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Five brothers and nine sisters predeceased him. He was born in Bottineau, North Dakota, son of Lewis and Irene (Toupin) Langevin, and has lived in Jefferson since 1955.
Mr. Langevin worked for George F. Wright Steel & Wire Co. in Worcester for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and was a lifetime member of the Greendale Men's Club and its Thursday Night Bowling League which he played in until age 95. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Steelworkers Union and Teamster Local 170, both of Worcester, and AARP. For 20 years he volunteered with the Meals-on-Wheels program with the Holden Council on Aging.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
