Shirley T. (Johnson) Palmgren

WORCESTER – Shirley T. (Johnson) Palmgren, 78, of 28 Joppa Road, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in her home after an illness.

She leaves her husband, Alden C. Palmgren, with whom she celebrated her 51st wedding anniversary with on September 10th; two sons, Mark A. Palmgren and his wife Susan of Astoria, New York and John M. Palmgren and his wife Cindybeth of Worcester; two daughters, Anne P. Deedy and her husband Daniel of Worcester and Kathleen M. Copson and her husband Donald of Framingham; a brother, George Johnson of South Yarmouth; a sister, Alyce Johnson of Worcester; six grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Katherine and Abigail Palmgren and Michael and Timothy Deedy; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia A. Palmgren of Holden; nephews, nieces and cousins. Her son, David G. Palmgren, died in 2003. Two brothers, Paul and Harold Johnson and two sisters, Barbara Johnson and Natalie Woodbury, also predeceased her. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Gustave W. and Catherine M. (Cassidy) Johnson and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Palmgren graduated from South High School in Worcester. Prior to her marriage, she worked for 10 years in the auditing department at Mechanics National Bank in Worcester. She was a member of Christ The King Church, its Women’s Club and co-chaired the CYC for many years.

The funeral for Mrs. Palmgren will be held on Saturday, September 30, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ The King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Central Street, Auburn. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, in the funeral home. The family suggests that donations be made to Christ The King CYC, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
