Biography
HOLDEN - Shirley M. Foran, 92, a longtime Holden resident, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Autumn Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Worcester, Shirley was the daughter of Charles A. and Veronica (Marsolais) Docherty.
She graduated from North High School, New England School of Accounting and Hahneman School of Nursing. Although she held many nursing positions, her last and most rewarding one was at Thomas Prince Elementary School in Princeton.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, John J. Foran and son-in-law, Paul B. Harding. She is survived by her sister, Lenore M. Lawry of Holden; her son, David J. Foran and his wife, Judy of Underhill, Vt.; her daughter, Kathleen M. Harding of Spencer; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. George Parish and served with the Womens Guild and Christmas Bazaar. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & caregiver.
A private, family service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in April. She has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606. To share a memory or offer online condolence, please sign the guestbook on this page.
