WEST BOYLSTON – Shirley A. (Bavosi) Shepard, 66, of 167 Maple Street, died in Umass Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 13, 2004, after a long battle with cancer.
Her husband of 32 years, Bruce L. Shepard, died in 1991. She leaves two sons, Gregory M. Shepard and his wife Deanna of West Boylston, and Mark L. Shepard of Boylston; two grandchildren, Nicole and Samantha Shepard of West Boylston; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert and Matilda (Leonardi) Bavosi, and lived all of her life in West Boylston. She graduated Wachusett Regional High School in 1955, and was a member of the first graduating class of The Vesper George School of Art in Boston.
Mrs. Shepard was an Interior Designer for 35 years, and owned Country Limited in West Boylston for 14 years retiring in 1997. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the American Interior Designers of Boston, West Boylston Historical Commission, Beaman Oak Garden Club, and the Worcester Historical Society at Tower Hill in Boylston. She was also a trustee of the West Boylston Historical Society, member of the Scarlet Bells Red Hat Society in West Boylston, and a volunteer at UMass Hospital University Campus. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling with her friends.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Shepard will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street (Rte. 140), West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 32 Church Street, West Boylston. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, in the Miles Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling.
