Sheila M. (Haran) Clary

October 3, 1941 — May 11, 2024

Holden - Sheila M. (Haran) Clary, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born and raised in Worcester, Sheila was the youngest child of James E. and Mary E. (Williams) Haran. She attended Dartmouth Street Elementary School, St. Stephen’s Catholic High School, and finally, the Salter School. Sheila met the love of her life, Carney T. Clary, at the age of 19 and they were married the next year on September 15, 1962. Sheila and Carney moved to Holden and had their three children, Thomas, John, and Cathleen.

Before moving to Holden, Sheila was a secretary at Worcester City Hospital. She then took time away from work to raise her and Carney’s children. Once all three children were enrolled in school, Sheila returned to the workforce as a medical secretary at the Fallon Clinic. She was eventually promoted to Supervisor of the Claims Department and worked there until 1987. It was at this time that she took on the job that brought her the most joy: caring for her grandchildren.

Countless hours were spent under Sheila and Carney’s roof. Whether it was Christmas or an ordinary weekday afternoon, Sheila and Carney’s home was a haven for the kids, and there was always a sweet treat to enjoy. Sheila’s grandchildren fondly remember the countless sleepovers, silly home movies, ice cream sundaes, and summer days spent in the backyard.

Sheila is survived by her sister, Anne (Nancy) Powers, her son Thomas Clary, his wife Denise, and their children Carl Quist, Cailin McLean, and Kellie Clary; her son John Clary and his children Kevin Clary and Jessica Clary; and her daughter Cathleen Clary-Fligg, her husband Donald, and their children Lauren Fligg and Brandon Fligg. Sheila was fortunate enough to meet her three great-grandchildren, Colton and Charlotte Clary, and Lana McLean.

Sheila also leaves behind very special friends, Kenny and Betsy Gale.

Sheila was predeceased by her husband Carney in 2021. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert Haran. Sheila’s family would like to thank the staff of Rose Monahan Hospice Home for the loving care that she received there. Sheila will be incredibly missed by all who knew her.

Services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
