Seth Nerses Arakelian

HOLDEN - Seth Nerses Arakelian passed away at home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Seth was born in Worcester, MA on August 5, 1937, the son of Nerses and Aznive (Vagshenian) Arakelian, Armenian immigrants.

Seth’s parents were survivors of the 1915 genocide of the Armenians and escaped to America by the end of World War One. Seth’s wife, Katherine (Proko) Arakelian preceded his death in 2023, after 52 years of marriage, and Seth’s brother, Ghevont (Jacob) Hagopian died in 1999. Seth leaves a son, Seth Ghevont and his wife, Aneta Arakelian of Harvard, MA and two daughters, Andrea Adams of Holden, and Alexis Arakelian and her husband Roderick McNeil of Schwenksville, PA.

Seth graduated from South High School, Worcester Junior College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and was a registered professional structural engineer and consultant for several years.

He was a faithful lifelong parish member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, Worcester, MA and also a member of the “Knights of Vartan.” Seth leaves many close friends. He had a good word for all and he was one of a kind when it came to giving a helping hand to a friend in need.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Seth’s family from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, April 1st, at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be private. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
