FITCHBURG/LEHIGH ACRES, FL – Selvin H. Hawkins, 85, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Alice G. (Peters) Hawkins; two sons, Richard Hawkins of Holden and Lionel Cloutier of Winchendon; four daughters, Nancy J. Kristoff of Sterling, Sheila Cramm of Winchendon, Annmarie Graves of Fitchburg and Connie Taylor of Richmond, IN; 40 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and a great great-granddaughter. Two daughters, Carol White and Linda Hawkins predeceased him.
Mr. Hawkins was born in Templeton and lived in Fitchburg before moving to Florida 24 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS Megara and USS Chloris. Selvin was a Millwright at James River Paper Company in Fitchburg for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a life member of VFW Post 523 in Clinton and the DAV Chapter 30 in Fitchburg. In his younger days, Selvin enjoyed racing and building cars.
Funeral services for Mr. Hawkins are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
