Biography
WORCESTER – Sarah “Sylvia” Lapin died 97-years-young on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence in Worcester. She was born on June 26, 1917, and raised in New London, Connecticut. Sylvia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Wolfe.
Sylvia was a long-time resident of Worcester and met her husband Morris in 1937. They spent 79 amazing years together until his death just three months ago. Sylvia and Morris were inseparable and shared a love and devotion that was remarkable and treasured by family and friends alike. Sylvia was a proud high school graduate and spent a long career as a clothing salesperson. She had a great sense of style and liked to look “up-to-date” with a pocketbook and bright lipstick color. She finished her career, together with her husband, working for United Oil – traveling to different art galleries.
Sylvia’s family was always her first priority – she was steadfast, generous, caring and strong. She loved hearing detailed stories of everyone’s daily lives – she was kind-hearted, intelligent, sociable and a great judge of character. She loved Broadway music, knitting, hosting family gatherings and her “boys” The Red Sox. Sylvia loved and treasured the simplest pleasures in life.
Her close-knit family was always her first priority. She is survived by two daughters, Janice, wife of Mark Hirsch, and Marilyn, wife of Mark Goldman; four devoted granddaughters, Elissa Eitelberg, Debra, wife of Andrew Wolfe; Risa, wife of Scott Burgess; and Laura Goldman; six great grandchildren whom she absolutely loved and adored –Taylor and Jordan Eitelberg, Max and Brooke Burgess and Elan and Sofia Wolfe; her brother-in-law Louis “Louie” Lapin of Worcester and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Ravelson and brother Arthur Wolfe.
She spent the last nine years, with her beloved Morris, happily living at the Gery and Emil Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence in Worcester where the entire staff is simply top-notch.
