STERLING – Sally A. (McNeil) Dodge, 89, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, February 21, 2021 after an illness. Born in Dorchester and raised in Waltham, Sara was the daughter of the late Sadie McNeil and lived many years in Needham before moving to Sterling in 2000. Her husband of 43 years, Howard A. Dodge died in 1997.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son, John C. Dodge of Sterling; two daughters, Cynthia A. Dodge of Sterling and Sandra L. Potasky and her husband, Michael of Worcester; a grandson, Matthew D. Newton of Windham, Maine; a son in law, Craig Newton of Windham, Maine; a cousin, Bill Petipas of Waltham, MA and a dear friend Linda Kelly of Walpole. Besides her husband and mother, Sally is predeceased by a daughter, Christine Newton.
Sally graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waltham in 1950. She was a past president of the Lt. Manson H. Carter VFW Post 2498, Women’s Auxiliary in Needham.
She loved her family, friends and country. She was always the first to laugh at a good joke and loved to have a good time.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sally’s family from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, February 27, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling, followed by a funeral service honoring her life at 11 am. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Fire Department, P.O.
