Sanford "Sandy" Griff

WORCESTER - Sanford L. “Sandy” Griff, 86, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.

Born in Worcester, Sandy was the son of Maurice and Lillian (Lipson) Griff, and was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts.

Sandy graduated from Worcester’s Commerce High School, after which he proudly served his country in the US Navy, on the U.S.S. Yosemite. After military service, he pursued a decades long career in advertising sales, owning and operating Sanford Advertising and eventually American Advertising. Sandy shared his love of tennis with his family and he was also an avid skier, on the slopes well into his 80’s.

Sandy will be remembered by his children: Stephen M. Griff of Worcester, David J. Griff of Worcester, Alysa R. Griff of Kissimmee, FL, and Peter C. Griff of Breckenridge, CO; and his brother, Martin Griff of Worcester. Sandy adored his granddaughter, Emily. He was predeceased by his wife, Rochelle “Shelly” (Bloomfield) Griff in 2001, and by his sister, Marilyn Griff Aaronson.

Family and friends will gather to honor Sandy’s life at a Memorial Service at 11:00am on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street Holden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
