Sanford 'Sandy' Conn

Biography

WORCESTER - Sanford “Sandy” Conn, 88 of Coconut Creek, FL, and formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 after an illness.

He was born in Worcester, a son of Benjamin and Esther (Norris) Conn.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Miriam (Weinman) Conn; a son, Michael Conn (Debra) of Holden; a daughter, Betsy Harris (Richard) of Weare, NH; a sister, Lois Abeles of FL; and five grandchildren, Benjamin (Rebecca), Hailey (Rory), Alexandra, Sarah and Samuel.

Sandy graduated from Worcester Academy and Nichols College.  His passions included his family and athletics, tennis, golf, skiing, and SCUBA diving which he taught for many years.

Sandy was President of Mac-Ben Sporting Goods and Flying Feet of Mac-Ben.

He also founded the Mac-Ben Softball League.  He will be missed by the sports enthusiasts of Worcester where he was well known prior to his retirement to Florida.

FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A.M., TODAY, SUNDAY, JUNE 19 IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY STREET, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will follow in B’Nai Brith Cemetery in Worcester.

Following the interment, Memorial Observance will be held at the residence of Michael and Debra Conn in Holden.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
