Biography
WORCESTER - Samuel B. Kaplan, 98, a native of Worcester, son of Abraham and Rebecca (Brodinsky) Kaplan, died peacefully surrounded by his family on July 23.

Sam (aka “Bae") was born March 10, 1917, the youngest of six Kaplan siblings. He graduated from Worcester Tech in 1939 and then worked for Sikorsky Aircraft in Hartford CT where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Harriet Rosenfield. Sam enlisted as a Captain in the US Army Air Corp during WWII where he flew the US C-69 Constellation Aircraft, during which time he was stationed in various places including the Caribbean. He and his family returned often to the tropical islands throughout his life. As an engineer living in Woodstock, CT, Sam was dedicated to community water needs and spent his career drilling wells across New England. He lived his later years at The Overlook in Charlton, MA, where he enjoyed his time with friends, old and new.

He is survived by his two daughters, Natasha Kaplan-Maurer of Venice Beach CA and Laura Kaplan of Worcester MA.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, at 12:30pm at the Elmvale Cemetery, 453 Roseland Park Road (corner of Senexet Road), Woodstock, CT.
