Sally Jackson Wilson

October 16, 1930 — November 6, 2015

WORCESTER - Sally Jackson Wilson, died on November 6, 2015, weeks after turning 85. She was the loving wife of the late William D. Wilson, mother to Mary Ibsen (Paul), Kathryn Burke (Walter), Margaret Woodruff (Dennis), and the late William D. Wilson, III, grandmother to Maureen Burke Mayone (Christopher), Jacob Woodruff, Elizabeth Woodruff Gary (Andrew), Christian Ibsen, Katelyn Burke Chirekos (Nicholas), Anna Woodruff Roubos (Jeffrey), and Matthew Ibsen, and great grandmother to Maeve and Walter Mayone.

Sally was born on October 16, 1930 to Herbert and Cecilia Jackson in Newark, NY. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in NYC. Raising her family of four children with her beloved husband Bill, Sally and the family loved taking trips and spending summers on Otisco Lake, in the Finger Lake region of New York State.

Sally was devoted to her family and active in her community throughout her life. Active in the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's, opening her home to international students and inner city fresh air children, any people in need found warmth and welcome in Sally. Just a few of the community groups that benefited from Sally’s help were the PTA, the Ecumenical movement, Crusillo, bereavement support groups, and even as late as this summer Sally was organizing senior brunches and luncheons.

Moving to central MA several years after the death of her husband, Sally touched many lives through her faith in God and her many friendships. She wintered in Florida, enjoying many friendships there. Sally rarely missed family events, including grandchildren's sporting events, concerts and graduations.

Sally was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed. Her faith and sense of purpose, in particular her devotion to her family and friends, should be an example to all of us of a life lived for others and bound by her faith in God.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A celebration of Sally’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Heritage Bible Church, 182 Brook Station Road, Princeton. A private committal service will be held at a later date in Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ELWA Hospital HIV-AIDS Education – Liberia, SIM USA, P.O. Box 7900, Charlotte, NC 28241-7900. Please include project number 095209-091 on your donation.
