STERLING – S. Joseph “Joey” Eckert, 59, of Osgood Road, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster after a brief illness. Joey was born in Clinton, the son of Stanley and Marion (Lynde) Eckert, and lived in Sterling all of his life.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Susan E. (Harding) Eckert; two daughters, Shelley L. Eckert of Hubbardston and Jodi A. Eckert of Jefferson; two sons, Scott R. Belville and Joseph S. Eckert both of Sterling; two sisters, Nancy C. Houde of Sterling and Staci Johnson of Princeton; a brother, Timothy M. Eckert of Sterling; four grandchildren, Zachary E. Boulay, Ian M. Boulay, Elizabeth A. Smola and Nicholas Belville; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a sister, June Keough.
Joey attended Wachusett Regional High School and worked most of his life on his family’s farm, Spring Hill Farm in Sterling, which he presently owned and operated. He was an avid New England sports fan.
Honoring Joey’s life, a funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 3, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 10 to 12 noon on Thursday.
