Ruth G. (Stuart) Senter

Biography
STERLING - Ruth G. (Stuart) Senter, 90, died peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, following an illness. Ruth was born in Sterling, daughter of the late Frederick T. and Florence May (Goddard) Stuart, and was raised in Lancaster.

She graduated from Lancaster High School, where she was awarded a scholarship to Becker College. Ruth married her beloved husband, James B. Senter and then settled in Sterling, where she lived for almost 70 years. She often said she never ventured far from Clinton Road, whether in Lancaster or Sterling. Ruth and Jim went on to raise four daughters. Together the family enjoyed the simple things in life, whether sitting watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday evening, or enjoying a family dinner. She also found time to work through the years, including at Colonial Press, Bea’s Yarn Shop and for many years, had her own home cleaning business. Ruth was an accomplished baker and always had a special treat available for anyone that stopped by. She even created special wedding cakes for customers. Her quick wit was enjoyed by all of her family. A devoute Christian woman, Ruth assisted her husband in later years with a home based ministry he started in Sterling. An accomplished piano player, Ruth loved to play old gospel hymns and country music, especially while a member of the “Saddle Sweethearts” musical group.

She will be deeply missed by her four daughters, Susan M. Wyatt and her husband, John of Easley, SC, Terry-Jean Vincent and her husband, Don of Shushan, NY, Patti-Jo Miller and her husband, Jerry of Fitchburg, and Darcee Glenn and her husband, Karl of Clinton, with whom Ruth has been living for the past three years; her brother, Philip Stuart of Clinton, her 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Stuart.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ruth’s family at the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling on Thursday, November 20, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. A private graveside service for her family will be held on Friday, November 21, in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
