HOLDEN - Ruth E. (Patterson) Temple, 94, died on February 8, 2016 at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility due to a lengthy illness. She was born in Quincy, on October 28, 1921, the daughter to the late Helen A. (Rogers) Patterson and Charles H. Patterson a World War I veteran of the Army 101st Engineers. As a child, Ruth resided in Quincy, Leominster, Groton, and Holden before she ended up in Rutland. After graduating from Becker College, Ruth met her husband, the late William R. Temple and they were married in 1942 at the First Congregational Church of Rutland. Ruth and Bill lived there for many years with their family before relocating to Cape Cod where they lived a good part of their lives. She enjoyed baking and reading novels, but Ruth’s true passion was spending time with her family. She also was an amazing caregiver to her late husband, Bill and her late daughter, Patricia, who both suffered from the same illness. Ruth is survived by her three sons, Russell Temple of Shrewsbury, Roger Temple of Centerville and Douglas Temple of Sandwich; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Mackie.
