STERLING - Ruth E. (Lecoeuvre) Johnson, 94,passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marblehead, after an illness. She was born in Grafton, a daughter of Peter H. and Gertrude C. (Sanders) Lecoeuvre. Ruth had lived most of her life in Sterling before moving to Marblehead three years ago.Her husband of 35 years, Warren C. Johnson, passed away in 1987. She leaves three nieces, Maureen Mullin of Bonita Springs, FL., Ruth Ferguson of Marblehead and Nancy Mills of Stockbridge and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Earl F. Lecoeuvre and two sisters, Helen G. Ferguson and Jane M. Moynihan.Ruth graduated from Major Howard Beal High School in Shrewsbury and the Worcester School of Business Science in Worcester. She was a credit manager at Astra Pharmaceutical for over 20 years before retiring in 1983. Previously, she worked at Melville Shoe Company in Worcester. Ruth was a member of the First Church in Sterling. She was known to all as "Auntie Ruth". Ruth had a soft spot in her heart for children and animals. Her favorite times were spent at her cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee with friends and family.Relatives and friends are invited to visit Mrs. Johnson's family on Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 11am to noon followed by a funeral service at noon in Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
