HOLDEN – Ruth M. (Hough) Soderlund, of Plainville formerly of Holden, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 in Maples Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Wrentham after a brief illness.
Her husband of 51 years, Yngve K. Soderlund, died in 1986. She leaves two daughters, Nancy Melendy of Jefferson and Ann Edmands of Holden; a sister, Barbara Wickwire of Worcester and East Orleans; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Helen Wilkin of Auburn and Gail Soderlund of Worcester predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester the daughter of Franklin A. & Edith J. (Cooper) Hough, later lived 30 years in East Orleans and several years in West Boylston and Holden before recently moving to Plainville.
Mrs. Soderlund worked as a bookkeeper for 15 years at Liberty Typewriter in Worcester. She also worked as a bookkeeper for several summers at the South Orleans General Store in Orleans. She was a long time member of St. Michaels on the Heights Church in Worcester and its Vicar’s Aid.
The funeral for Mrs. Soderlund will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, in the funeral home.
