WORCESTER – Ruth H. (Bears) Bodycott, 88, formerly of 14 Navasota Ave., died Monday, July 12, 2004, in Holy Trinity Nursing Home, Worcester.
Her husband of 63 years, Robert S. Bodycott, died in 2001. Her sister, Shirley T. Wareing of Oakham, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles W. and Hattie (Tiffany) Bears, and lived in Paxton many years before returning to Worcester in 1975. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, earned a Doctorate in brail transcription, and was certified by the Library of Congress. For many years she transcribed books for the blind as a volunteer. She was a member of the Paxton Congregational Church and had been active in its women’s fellowship.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bodycott will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private on Friday in Mooreland Cemetery, 251 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paxton Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Paxton, MA 01612; or to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02160.
