HOLDEN ~ Ruth H. (Barlow) Booth Field, 100, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Campus after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 44 years, Gilman A. Field; a grandson, Mark Booth of Manchester, NH; three great-grandchildren, Cadin, Quinn and Devon; a former daughter-in-law, Mary Benton of White River Jct, VT; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Booth, and two brothers, Robert and Melville Barlow.
Ruth was born in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of Robert H. and Margaret Ann (Schofield) Barlow and had lived in Holden since 1980. She was a sewing teacher at the Worcester Girls Club-Lincoln House in Worcester for twenty-five years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Holden and volunteered at the Corner Shop. She was a member of the Green and Appalachian Mountain Club’s and enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12 noon in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at East Leverett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
