STERLING – Russell G. Fidler, 65, of 31 Birch Drive, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 2, 2005.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Candida D. (Richardson) Fidler; his father, Russell G. Fidler, Sr. of Billerica; two sons, Paul and his wife Donna Fidler of Ashburnham and Neil C. Fidler and his fiancée Cathy of Seattle, Washington; three daughters, Diane M. and her husband Steve Buchanan of Brookline, New Hampshire, Louise Kloppenburg of Nashua and Allison Fidler of West Boylston; three brothers, Allan B. Fidler of Billerica, Donald J. and his wife Deborah of Littleton and Bob A. and his wife Joan of Carlisle; a sister, Janice L. Knox and her husband John H. of Littleton; a close cousin, Charles F. Kyle and his wife Jean E. of Sterling; six grandchildren, Angela, Steve, Jack, Stephanie, Brandon and Adam. He was born in Boston, son of the late Margaret T. (Kyle) Fidler, and lived in Dorchester and Littleton before moving to Sterling in 1984. He graduated from Littleton High School in 1957. He attended Northeastern University and East Coast Aerotech.
Russell had recently retired from Diebold, Inc. where he had worked for the past 35 years. He was an avid hiker and hiked all of the 4,000-foot mountains in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. He especially enjoyed hiking with his daughter Allison, son Neil and his dog. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and enjoyed Antique Cars.
The funeral service for Russell will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, in the funeral home.
