HOLDEN - Rudolph F. "Rudy" Kohlstrom Jr., 87, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was born in Holden the son of Marie A. (Maxfield) and Rudolph F. Kohlstrom Sr.
Rudy was a beloved fixture in the Holden/Jefferson community for most of his life. He graduated from Holden High School and joined the Merchant Marines for a time. Rudy went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany, France and Tripoli among other places. After returning from the service Rudy began working in the lab at Wyman Gordon Co. He dedicated 40 years there before retiring in 1996. Rudy married the love of his life, the late Barbara A. (St. Francis) and the couple settled in Holden. Rudy and Barbara shared 46 years of marriage before Barbara's passing in 2004. Rudy was a member of the Greendale Men's Club and the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post #189 in Sterling. He also enjoyed camping, sports and meeting friends at the Holden Senior Center. However, his true joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rudy will be missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, Randy Kohlstrom and his wife, Diane of New Salem and William Kohlstrom and his wife, Brenda of Millbury; his daughter, Karen Woodcock and her husband, Charlie of Jefferson; his brother, Robert Kohlstrom of Leominster; his sister, Phyllis Barrows of Lunenburg; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Kenneth and John Kohlstrom; and his sisters, Gloria Valliquette and Katherine Kendrick.
Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Memorial contributions may be made to Daily Bread 36 Rosewood Dr. Leominster, MA 01543.
