Ruby R. (Moore) Leary

WORCESTER – Ruby R. (Moore) Leary, 92, of 113 Malden Street, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, in the Sterling Healthcare Center.

Her husband of over 50 years, Wesley T. Leary, died in June of 1991. She leaves two daughters, Phyllis A. Leary and Donna A. Shircliff of both of Worcester; four grandchildren, Pamela Lisee, Stacy and Matthew Shircliff all of Worcester and Christopher Lisee of Barre; a brother, George J. Moore, Jr. and wife Mary of Longmeadow; a sister, Phyllis E. Palmer and her husband Clark of Watertown, Connecticut; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Her brother and sister-in-law, Roy H. and Ruth Moore, predeceased her.

Mrs. Leary was born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada, daughter of George and Jesse (Morrison) Moore, and moved to Worcester in 1925. She graduated Worcester Girls Trade in 1930. Since 1937, she was an active member of St. Michael’s-on-the-Heights Episcopal Church and a member of its Wednesday Morning Group. She was a member of the 3F’s Group at Greendale Peoples Church, member of many horticultural societies and was an avid gardener and crafter. Years ago she was a Blue Bird and Campfire Leader.

The funeral service for Mrs. Leary will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 30, in St. Michael’s on-the-Heights Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Saints” of St. Michael’s Stained Glass Window Fund, St. Michael’s on-the-Heights Episcopal Church, 340 Burncoat Street, Worcester, MA 01606; or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701; or a charity of one’s choice in Ruby’s name.
