HOLDEN –Waldo R. Schofield, 89, of Holden and Cocoa Beach Florida, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at U Mass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 68 years, Birdie E. (Smith) Schofield; a son, Ronald Schofield and his wife Susan Johnson, D.V.M. of North Brookfield; a daughter, Nancy Mosher and her husband Clayton of Princeton; a brother, Eldon Schofield of Leicester; a sister, Maxine Anderson of Holden; four grandchildren, Mark and David Schofield, Lisa Christian and Sheri Hardy; and four great-grandchildren.
Waldo was born in Nova Scotia, the son of Raymond and Hilda (Hatt) Schofield. He was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II stationed in India. After his service in the Air Corps, he resumed his career as a Machinist at Heald Machine Company until his retirement in 1982. Waldo was a 50-year member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland. He was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful dad, and an amazing gramp and great gramp. He was a friend to many, always bringing a smile and quick wit to any gathering. He loved his homes, his gardens, and golf. Most of all he loved his family.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Rufus Putnam Lodge A.F. & A.M., 293 Main Street, P. O. Box 151, Rutland, MA 01543; or to the charity of one's choice. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
