Gardner/Sterling – Royal W. Pineo, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Gardner Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Worcester, he was the cherished son of the late Royal W. Pineo, Sr., and Svea (Mollberg) Pineo.
Royal was a proud graduate of Wachusett High School, class of 1959. He dedicated over 35 years of his career as a draftsman at O.S. Walker Magnetics, retiring in 2008. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Louise, and together they made their home in Sterling, where they lovingly raised their children. In 2009, Royal relocated to Gardner.
A true outdoorsman, Royal found joy in the simple pleasures of nature, particularly fishing and golfing. His enthusiasm for life extended to the bowling lanes and the softball field, where he spent many years coaching girls' softball in Sterling, including several All-Star teams. Royal also had a lifelong passion for Lionel model trains, U.S. history, The Boston Red Sox and drawing.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 54 years, Louise (Root) Pineo; his son, Jeff Pineo of Palmer; his daughter, Michelle Creasy and her husband, Jack of Virginia; his brother, David Pineo and his wife, Gail of Sterling; and his beloved grandchildren, Jill and Mark Creasy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Rd. (Rte. 62), Sterling.
