STERLING – Rowland “Joe” J. Woodman, 80, of 82 Kendall Hill Road, died Saturday, October 15, 2005, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 26 years, Theresa M. (Ricardi) Woodman; his son, James R. Woodman of Gorham, New Hampshire; a daughter, Gail L. Woodman of Palo Alto, California; a step-son, Albert U. Adua and his wife Lynn of Sterling; and a sister, Thelma D. Vaughan and her husband Jack of Coronado, California. He was born in Boston, son of Ronald L. and Abigail (Magee) Woodman, and lived in Sterling for 75 years.
Mr. Woodman graduated from Clinton High School in 1942 and later attended Worcester Boy’s Trade and Northeastern University. He worked at Colonial Press for 29 years and later at Poly Mark in Clinton for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Navy Air Corps Veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Asiatic Theater.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Woodman will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
