HOLDEN – Rosemond “Bean” F. (Bennett) Stacy, 84, of 27 Bailey Road, died peacefully in her childhood home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, January 9, 2005.
Her husband of 34 years, Earl C. Stacy, Jr. died in 1977. She leaves a son, Michael D. Stacy, Sr. and his wife Lauren R. of Jefferson; a daughter, Barbara S. Smith of Holden; four grandchildren, Michael P. Smith and his wife Karen of Rutland, William F. Smith of Holden, Michael D. Stacy, Jr. and his wife Katrina of Petersham, Jessica Bennett Stacy of Jefferson; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Rose and Shannon Stacy Smith of Rutland. Her son, Paul “Tiny” L. Stacy and her brother, Paul Bennett predeceased her. She was born in Holden, daughter of Loring and Margaret (Maloney) Bennett, and was a graduate of Holden High School class of 1938.
Mrs. Stacy was the owner and bookkeeper of the Blue Plate Lounge and worked at the Blue Plate Farm Stand, both in Holden. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden, was a volunteer at the former Holden Hospital and the Holden meals-on-wheels program, and enjoyed traveling.
The funeral service for Mrs. Stacy will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of the U.S. Troops returning from overseas duty and their families to the Walter Reed Society, OIF/OEF Fund, P.O. Box 59611, Walter Reed Station, Washington, DC 20012. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
