STERLING - Rosemary A. (Bachand) Stolgitis, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Holden. Born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury, Rosemary was the daughter of Lionel and Catherine (Corcoran) Bachand and lived in Sterling and Worcester.

Her husband of 51 years, Timothy J. Stolgitis died in 2001. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three daughters, Susan M. Kowalczyk and her husband, Lawrence of Jefferson, Kathleen A. Fazio and her husband Michael of Sterling and Rosalind Lund and her husband, Michael of Little River, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Kerrie, Michelle, Stephanie, Sondra, Timothy, Michael, Joseph, Jeffrey and Kathryn; six great grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Shawnasue, Caiden, Aria and Levi; nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Rosemary is predeceased by brother, Lionel Bachand, Jr. and sister, Catherine Mallett.

Rosemary and her husband Tim moved to Sterling in 1956 where they raised their three daughters and resided for 52 years. Her focus was family and home. She enjoyed staying at home and raising her children and looked forward to spending time at the ocean and vacationing at Moody Beach in Maine. Rosemary was outgoing and traveled extensively throughout the years which included a special sojourn back to her family’s homeland in Ireland. After Tim’s passing, she continued taking trips that were organized by Sterling, Shrewsbury and Worcester Senior Centers.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated privately at 11 am on Tuesday, December 29, at St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson. Rosemary’s Mass will be recorded and made available later that day to relatives and friends on her obituary on the Miles Funeral Home’s website, www.milesfuneralhome.com . Rosemary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL.17, Chicago, IL 60601 ( www.alz.org ).
