Rosalie R. (Prendergast) Lawless Borbone

July 1, 1924 — January 23, 2018

WORCESTER – Rosalie (Prendergast) Lawless Borbone, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Irish immigrants Michael and Mary Anne (O’Brien) Prendergast.

She is survived by her children, Mary Anne Sullivan and her husband, Paul of Princeton, Rosalie Lawless and her husband, Michael Jarominski of Sutton, Lois Pepper of Millbury, John Lawless and his wife, Kathy of San Antonio, TX, Michael Lawless and his wife, Joan of Weymouth and Maryellen Dyer of Worcester, who was like a daughter to Rosalie. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Paul Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan and his wife, Jennifer, Thomas “TJ” Lawless, John Lawless and his wife, Crystal, Maria Walker, Michael Jarominski, Tammy Favreau and her husband, Michael and Mandy Jarominski; ten great grandchildren, John and Jacinda Lawless, Kalie McAuliffe, Michael, Samantha, Jessica and Alexis Favreau, Ashlee and Kaylee Jarominski and Haylee Zurowski; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Atty. John J. Lawless in 1971 and Joseph J. Borbone in 1999; her beloved son, Thomas D. Lawless in 2012; three sisters, Maria Maxwell, Catherine Prendergast and Anne Barrett; and her brother, Michael Prendergast.

Rosalie graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia and owned and operated Grigaitis and Lawless Insurance Agency in Worcester. She was proud of her Irish heritage and will be remembered for her quick Irish wit, infectious smile, blue eyes and her compassion and willingness to help those who were less fortunate. She had a strong Catholic faith and was devoted to her family and her many dear friends.

Her grandchildren will lovingly remember her advice and words of wisdom, affectionately known as “Nana-isms.” She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the care and compassion provided by Dr. Wilfred Pitts and her caregivers, Maryellen, Tina, Anne Marie and Connie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 2 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Rosalie’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 3 at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rosalie’s memory to the Thomas Lawless Class of 1980 Scholarship Fund, c/o St. John’s High School, 378 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
