WORCESTER - Rosalie Olds passed away on May 6 at her home in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was 95 years old.

Rosalie was born in New York City, the daughter of Abraham and Fanny (Schless) Lasker, and was raised in the Bronx. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from the University of Iowa, where she met her husband of 58 years, Stanley Olds. They lived in Salem, Oregon for several years before moving to Worcester, Massachusetts, where they raised their three children and became active members of the community.

Rosalie was an extraordinarily creative and generous artist. She began writing at age 60 and published her first novel in her 80’s. Her career in ceramics began nearly sixty years ago when, in search of a hobby, she took a ceramics class at the Worcester Center for Crafts. Her skill and passion for the craft became so impressive that she eventually became the instructor. She taught there, as a respected potter and sculptor, for decades. She also taught for many years at the Worcester Jewish Community Center and The Willows at Worcester where she lived for the last 14 years of her life. She was deeply and actively involved in her community and dedicated to her family and students.

Rosalie is survived by her three children and four grandchildren and their spouses and partners: Guy Olds and Cindy Chavooshian, Claudia Olds Goldie and Mark Goldie, Leslie Blank and Kevin Blank, Danielle Goldie and Evan Gomez, Jeremy Goldie, Garrett Blank and Paige Earls, Liza Hess and Ryan Hess. She was predeceased by her brother, Martin Lasker.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 8 at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Road, Worcester. Immediately following the interment service, the family invites everyone to a Memorial Reception and Shiva in the Great Room at The Willows of Worcester, 101 Barry Road, Worcester, at approximately 1:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden
