AUBURN – Ronald J. Paquin, 65, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Born and raised in Worcester, Ron was the son of Ernest W. and Eldora V. (Nordstrom) Paquin and lived 18 years in Auburn.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Locke) Paquin; a son, Keith Paquin of Worcester; a daughter, Milinda Walcott of New York; a stepson, Shaun Derosier of Barre; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Joseph of Plainfield, CT; three brothers, Roger Paquin of Auburn, Russell and Richard Paquin both of Maine; five sisters, Joyce Odorski of Worcester, Janet Lincoln of New York, Beverly Nereau of New Salem, Diane Black of Maine, and Raylene Stuart of Worcester; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and, of course, his two Boston terriers, “Maggie” and “Gizzy.” Ron is predeceased by a son, Ronald J. Paquin, Jr., a step-son, Michael Derosier, a brother, Ernest Paquin, and two sisters, Nancy Raymond and Donna Paquin.
Ron attended Worcester public schools, and at the age of 18, was called to serve his country in Southeast Asia as so many of his generation did. He gallantly fought in the jungles of Vietnam with the 4th Battalion, 30th U.S. Army Infantry Regiment from 1968 to 1969, the deadliest year spent by Americans during the war. After returning home, he went to work at National Envelope in Worcester where he worked for 30 years. He served as the local president for the National Textile Workers Union #2654, UNITE.
Ron was a patriotic man and felt honored to have served his country. He enjoyed fishing, and when the strip bass were running in the Cape Cod Canal, that’s where you would find him. He will be remembered for his acts of kindness and quite unassuming personality.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ron’s family from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ron’s name to Disabled American Veterans, Department of Massachusetts, State House, Room 546, Boston, MA 02133 (
