HOLDEN – Ronald O. Oslebo, 78, passed away peacefully at home as he wished, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Born and raised in Holden, Ron was the son of Ola and Thora (Eng) Oslebo and lived in Holden his entire life
Ron graduated from Holden High School in 1954 and furthered his education at Worcester Junior College in Worcester. In 1956 he married Marjorie L. Benaglia, and together raised their family on Wachusett Street in Holden in the house that Ron built. He began his career working at Rockwood Sprinklers in Worcester as a machinist, later advancing to a sales representative position. Ron then went to work at HC Hook Co. in Auburn where he worked as their sales manager for many years. He also worked at REFCO Incorporated in Boylston and IDG before semi retiring. He continued working as a consultant and also went to work at the Wells Moody Campground in Maine where he became its Park Manager.
He was an active community volunteer and joined the Holden Fire Department in 1952 as a volunteer firefighter and retired as a lieutenant after 32 years of service. Ron was currently serving on the Holden Zoning Board of Appeals. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed yard work especially maintaining his immaculate lawn.
Ron had a special passion for the sea and enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and spending summers with his family at Moody Beach in Maine. Family came first with Ron, and he will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He loved looking forward to family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie L. (Benaglia) Oslebo; his daughter, Diane L. Oslebo of Holden; two sons, Mark R. Oslebo and his wife, Beatrix of Germany and Paul J. Oslebo and his wife, Marie of Holden; and his grandchildren, April, Kristin, David and Lisa. Besides his parents, Ron is predeceased by his brother, Richard Oslebo and three sisters, Shirley Lind, Ella Santimaw and Edith Swenson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 27, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, and again on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m., followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church 114 Princeton St., Jefferson for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden in the spring.
