HOLDEN/FITCHBURG – Ronald H. King, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at UMass Memorial Lake Ave. campus after a brief illness. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of the late Mitchell and Blanche (Dupuis) King, and was a Fitchburg resident before moving to Holden eighteen years ago.

He leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Therese Y. (Therrien) King; his children, Kenneth J. King and his wife, Jeannie of East Freetown, Catherine M. Tracey and her husband, Frank of Holden and Derek J. King and his companion, Tiara Galindo of Folsom, CA; his grandchildren, Aimee, Allison, Spencer, Ryan, Megan, Samuel; his great-grandchild, Gavin; his brother, Richard King of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his brothers Joseph, and Mitchell King.

Following high school, Ron proudly served his country from 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1959 from the US Navy. He began his career with the Fitchburg Fire Department on Dec 22nd 1969, and retired July 22nd of 1997 after serving for 27 years. He attended St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson (Holden) and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends making memories. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Ronnie had a love of music. Whenever he had the opportunity, he enjoyed taking his wife for a spin around the dance floor. He was an avid fisherman and Boston sports fan and shared that love with his family. He also loved to go for rides in his Jeep Wrangler

The funeral service for Ron will be held on Tuesday, April 26th with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson (Holden). A private burial service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org ) or the American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ).
