HUBBARDSTON/WORCESTER – Ronald P. Flynn, Jr, 52, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner after a long illness. Born and raised in Worcester, Ron was the son of Ronald P. and Mary (Raposa) Flynn and lived 26 years in Hubbardston. He leaves his beloved wife of 29 years, Robin S. (Lareau) Flynn; two daughters, Nicole S. and Amanda J. Flynn both of Hubbardston; two sons, Stephen Stanford of Webster and James P. Flynn of Hubbardston; 6 grandchildren, Abby, Andrew, Brayden and Michael Sanford, Violet and Autumn Hanks; three brothers, Kenneth Flynn of Oxford, Henry Flynn of San Jose, CA and Mark Flynn of Worcester; two sisters, Carrina Keller of Barre and Kelly St. Charles of Spencer; a step-sister, Ruth MacDonald of Manchester, NH; several nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his step-father, Robert LaFleur. Ron was a graduate of Worcester Vocational Technical High School and the Police Academy. After 21 years of dedicated service, Ron retired in 2011 from the Worcester County Sherriff’s Department as a Detective Sergeant with the Criminal Investigative Unit. He simultaneously served as a police officer with the Hubbardston Police Department and coordinated their drug task force program with both the Northern Worcester County Drug Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police. Besides being a firearms instructor, Ron was trained as an ATF officer and K-9 handler. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout New England with his close friends. First and foremost, Ron was a family man. He looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren who he adored. Ron achieved his lifetime dream of serving in law enforcement and will be remembered by his colleagues for his tenacity, integrity and professionalism.
