HOLDEN, MA – Roland P. “Ray” Raymond, 68 of the Jefferson section of Holden, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2004 in UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester.
His first wife, Darlene (Greenlaw) Raymond, of 35 years died in 1987. He leaves his wife of 15 years, Deanna M. (Orton) Raymond; three sons, Michael Raymond of ME, Scott Raymond of Jefferson and Craig Raymond of England; a daughter, Darlene Hines of Port Orange, Fla.; two step-sons, Jimmy Orton of Jefferson and Richard Orton of Worcester; two step-daughters, Cynthia Cassano of N.H. and Laurie Lane of Sterling.
He was born in Worcester, son of Phillip and Albertine (Ratte) Raymond. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and sailed on the John Hutchins. He had worked for General Medical Co. in Tewksbury for 40 years before retiring. After his retirement he worked for Quality Chair Van. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time at the family pool, attending to his flowers and vacationing in Florida.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Raymond will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
