RUTLAND - Rocco A. Vallande, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family after a period of illness. Born to Antonio and Mary (Macera) Vallande on June 10, 1949, in Providence, RI, Rocco was a cherished son, loving husband, dedicated father, and accomplished professional.
Rocco grew up in Cranston, RI and graduated from Cranston East High School. A trailblazer in his family, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Rhode Island in 1971, becoming the first Vallande to receive a college degree. It was during his college years that Rocco met the love of his life, Shirley DeAngelis.
Rocco and Shirley married on April 28, 1973, and together they grew their family with the births of their three beautiful sons; Brian, Paul, and Scott.
Following his college graduation, Rocco entered the world of finance as a loan officer. His exceptional work ethic and innate leadership abilities propelled him to the role of Vice President at Columbus National Bank at the young age of 27. Rocco served a total of six banks throughout his illustrious career before his retirement in 2011.
Rocco had a profound appreciation for oil painting and refined his skills under the guidance of the renowned artist, Bob Ross. An avid sports enthusiast, Rocco proudly advocated as the NY Football Giants' number one fan since 1960. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing in his free time. Rocco was also a proud vegetable gardener.
He is predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Mary (Macera) Vallande.
Rocco is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Vallande of Rutland; his cherished sons, Brian Vallande of Rutland, Paul Vallande of Shrewsbury, and Scott Vallande of Rutland.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow, with a burial at Rural Cemetery in Rutland.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rocco's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital;
