Roberta W. (Stevens) Wolanski, 88, passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus, on Friday, January 28, 2022 of natural causes. Roberta was the daughter of the late Robert and Sybil (Gardner) Stevens. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester, Class of 1951 and attended Quinsigamond Community College.
Roberta met and married the love of her life and best friend, Francis “Frank” Wolanski on July 21, 1951 at Park Avenue Methodist Church. She was predeceased by Frank in October 2017. Roberta was a Purchasing Agent for Greendale People’s Church Nursing Home, The Jewish HealthCare Center and Holy Trinity. She was also an avid volunteer at many of our childhood school events and Greendale People’s Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking for family and friends, antiquing, and spending time at Cape Cod. Most of all she enjoyed being with her large, warm family. She was able to watch and guide all her children, grand children and great grand children as they grew and thrived.
Roberta, mom, will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Bernard Wolanski, Michael Wolanski and his wife, Kim, Gary Wolanski, Wendy Griffith and her husband, Lou, and Daniel Wolanski and his wife, Wendy, all of Worcester; her 11 grandchildren including Christopher Wolanski, Amy Lopes, Kara Ekstrom, Brian Wolanski, Jessica Scott, Tawnya Ertel, Louis and Daniel Griffith, Amanda Greene, Alisha Plante and Arianna Wolanski; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, Gerald Stevens and his wife, Karen and her sister, Sherrill McKeon and her husband, Paul; her sister-in-law, Regina Stevens; a brother-in-law, Bernard Wolanski and his wife, Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Mayer, Theresa Wamback and Patricia Wolanski; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Everett Stevens and his wife Gaye, and her brother, David Stevens.
Family and friends are invited to join Roberta’s family for a Memorial Service at Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW Foundation, 406 West 34th St., Suite 920, Kansas City, MO 64111 or to Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, 108 Grove Street, Worcester. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
