STERLING - Robert M. Watjus, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Born in Concord and raised in Maynard, Bob was the son of Matti and Vieno (Makela) Watjus and lived the last 63 years in Sterling.
Bob will be lovingly remembered and missed by his son, Wayne Watjus and his wife Carol of Raymond, NH; daughter, Christine J. Hanrahan and her husband Timothy of Sterling; a brother, Gary Watjus and his wife Francy of Mason, NH; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Colin Hanrahan; nephews and nieces. Bob is predeceased by his wife Myrna E. (McKelvie) Watjus of 61 years and two brothers, Roy and Raymond Watjus.
Bob graduated from Maynard High School in 1951. After graduating high school, he was drafted in the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Korean War between 1953 and 1955. Bob embarked on his journey in sales at an early age and quickly demonstrated an innate talent for connecting with people. He worked at Aubuchon Hardware Store in Clinton and Sterling before becoming the manager at their Sterling location. Most of his sales career was spent working in lighting for Luxor, Duro-Test and H&H Industries. His last sales call was this past May at the age of 90. Bob truly enjoyed working in sales and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and unwavering passion for his profession.
He cherished his family above all else and was always there to support and guide them through life. His sense of humor, generosity, and wisdom will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 30th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 472 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, MA 01720. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Arrangements are in the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center in Sterling.
