BOYLSTON - Robert Joseph Trudeau, 68, formerly of Holden,  passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born on October 24, 1947 in Hartford, CT.



Robert is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia (Rudick) Trudeau; his son Christopher and his wife, Kristen Meehan; his granddaughter, Enid Trudeau-Meehan; his mother, Mary (Maznicki) Sapula of Glastonbury, CT;  a brother, James Trudeau of Wethersfield, CT; three sisters, Ann Smith and her husband, Wayne of Austin, TX, Janet Smith and her husband,  Robert of Pomfret, CT and Barbara Smith of New Milford; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Bob attended Hartford public schools and after graduating from Weaver High School joined the U.S. Navy. He was initially a member of the Navy band and later served on the USS Nitro traveling to the Mediterranean three times for 6 month stints. Bob was always on the go and a born entrepreneur. In high school he was a great fundraiser, had an honor box paper route, was an usher at the Bushnell Memorial, and worked with his grandfather and uncles at Super Spring & Brake Co Inc.  After attending New England Technical Institute he established Video Security Systems in Massachusetts in 1978, which he ran until 2016. Bob loved music and was a talented trombone player. He played in his high school band and orchestra, music camps and the Governor’s Foot Guard Band in Connecticut.  In Massachusetts, he performed with big bands including the Point ‘n’ Swing Big Band and Fantasy Big Band.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Friday, March 18, from 5-8 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 19, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be private.
